Different people have different ideas of their perfect beach. For some the pebbles of Brighton are bliss, for others the wind swept sand dunes of south west France is a delight. Koh Tao beaches tend towards the populist view of paradise. Imagine fine white sand, under an azure sky, the clear warm waters of the Gulf of Thailand lapping at the beach. A line of coconut trees provide welcome shade from a strong sun. A beach bar built from the same trees, and roofed with banana tree leaves serves beer cold enough to chill even the uptight, snacks to arouse the most tired taste buds. Sound good? What
can you write about Nang Yuan. You run out of superlatives. Three tiny
islands, exposed at low tide, and connected by white sandbars, which
sparkle like diamonds under a strong sun.

island grapevine tells of a road soon to be constructed to Mango Bay.
We will see. Certainly it should be possible to access the bay along
any preparitary track long before it receives a concrete coating.

A relatively large bay which
is a popular dive site having a pinnacle rising from 30 metres depth to
a few metres below sea level.

Accessible from Sai Ree
village, the first part of the road can be awkward, especially after
the rains. Bungalows are attractively built in the rocks, and the
concrete restaurant fills much of the bay.
