On Thursday the 11th September Blacktip dive resort celebrated their 8th anniversary along with the Thai owner Damâs birthday. A couple of conservation projects were put together for this special day.
Early morning Blacktip and Samui Diving Services (SDS) met at the Shark Island dive site for an underwater fishing net clearance. Unfortunately due to bad weather conditions (approximately 2 meter high waves, strong current, surge and 3 meter visibility) only a couple of meters from a 100 meter long net were managed to be safely cleared around the dive site.
There was also an on land project which entailed grass planting around the newly built water reservoir above Tanote Bay which will aid the prevention of sand and sediment being washed into the sea during rainy season.
Then as a big thank you to the conservation projectsâ participants and of course anyone who wanted to come along, Blacktip dive resort had organized for the Thai Reggae Band Job2do to play at Tanote bay. As this was a very special occasion Damâs brother whoâs a member of the band brought along a few extra band members from Koh Phangan to join in the festivities.
