Banks & ATMs on Koh Tao

There are three banks and numerous ATMs around Koh Tao.  Most ATMs are located in tourist central locations and are spread throughout Sairee, Mae Haad, and Chalok Ban Kao.  The withdrawal limit is 10 000 THB per Debit card transaction and is at least double when using a Credit card.  Whilst on Koh Tao it is important to have access to cash as it is the only form of payment accepted at most locations. Some of the larger businesses or travel agencies will accept credit card, but will also charge a 2-5% fee for usage.  There are several currency exchange counters to help if you are coming with cash.  Be informed that Koh Tao sometimes has unstable internet connections which may effect the ATMs functionality.  In these cases, check with a few different machines and keep any paper statements dispensed.
